Dr. Stephen Ferrara, then the acting assistant secretary of war for health affairs, visited Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in 2025 during one of his many visits to military hospitals and clinics throughout the year to see the system beyond dashboards and briefings. “It’s always really energizing and restorative for me to get out to the field to where the work is done,” he said. Ferrara served as the acting assistant secretary from Jan. 21, 2025, to Jan. 12, 2026, and now serves as principal deputy assistant secretary of war for health affairs.
