Cmdr. Benjamin Dunn, deputy director for environment and remediation, Navy Closure Task Force–Red Hill (NCTF-RH), inspects an air quality monitoring station at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF) in Honolulu, Dec. 11, 2025. In accordance with requirements set forth by the Hawaii Department of Health, NCTF-RH installed the AQM network in and around the RHBFSF to continuously monitor air quality, measure potential volatile organic compounds, collect atmospheric data, and ensure a safe environment throughout the tank cleaning process. NCTF-RH was established by the Department of the Navy to safely decommission the RHBFSF and emphasize the Navy's commitment to the community and the environment. NCTF-RH continues to engage with the people of Hawaii, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders as it safely and deliberately decommissions the facility.
