Sailors assigned to Deck Department aboard Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) pilot a rigid-hull inflatable boat (RHIB) in the James River, Dec. 17, 2025. The training marked another milestone for the ship and crew, as the RHIB was lowered and raised using the starboard boat davit for the first time. John F. Kennedy is the second Ford-class aircraft carrier and is under construction at Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division in Newport News, Virginia.
