JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — Ensign Bond Photos, Carl M. Levin (DDG 120) electronic warfare officer, originally from New York, explains the capabilities of the Phalanx close-in weapon system (CIWS) while providing a tour of his ship, Dec. 20, 2025. Sailors aboard the Arleigh Burke-class, guided-missile destroyer invited Scouting America troop leaders and family members aboard their ship as part of the Navy Region Hawaii and Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific shipboard tour program. The program provides local civic and school groups the opportunity to visit U.S. Navy ships and learn about the important role they conduct to maintain readiness and ensure national security in the Indo-Pacific region.
