NAVAL STATION GREAT LAKES (November 19, 2025) — Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Electrical) Fireman Apprentice Julian Lopez, a native of Sacramento, Calif., and a student at Surface Warfare Engineering School Command (SWESC) Great Lakes, attends a luncheon in his honor, Dec. 11, for his selection as the command's 'Student of the Month,' for November on board Naval Station Great Lakes. The 'Student of the Month' is awarded to one student across SWESC's 13 schoolhouses based on their superior grade point average, leadership, and presentation during a boarding process. SWESC is responsible for providing technical training to every surface Navy engineer, quartermaster, boatswain and deck seaman; preparing each Sailor to perform on U.S. Navy ships operating around the globe.
