Colton Dubose, 21st Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal non-commissioned officer in charge of training, showcases the tying of a prusik knot during a training event with the 749th Ordnance Company at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, Oct. 17, 2025. The prusik knot offers added safety to the rappeler by acting as a friction hitch. It tightens under tension, stopping the rappeler if their brake-hand were to slip during the descent.
