U.S. Naval Submarine School students are put through surface survival training at the school’s Pressurized Submarine Escape Training facility as part of Basic Enlisted Submarine School, Groton, Connecticut, Dec. 11, 2025.
This safe-environment training teaches the students how to survive using submarine escape equipment on the surface of a body of water if ever there is a need to escape from a submerged submarine.
