CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. — Robert Keistler, Civil Works Program Manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District, speaks with students from Cape Fear Academy about coastal storm risk management during a site visit Dec. 11, 2024. Keistler explained how dunes, berms and engineered beaches help reduce storm impacts along the North Carolina coastline.
CSRM is a major mission area for USACE and plays a critical role in protecting coastal communities from hurricanes and erosion. The visit helped students gain firsthand insight into coastal engineering and the importance of long-term resilience planning.
