Four U.S. Marine Corps F-35C Lightning II aircraft assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 311, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, prepare for take-off from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar to Southern California Logistics Airport, Victorville California, in support of exercise Steel Knight 25, Dec. 10, 2025. The flight mission advances Steel Knight’s focus on distributed aviation operations by enabling aircraft to rearm and refuel from an expeditionary node, such as the Victorville node, rather than a main operating base. Steel Knight is an annual exercise that strengthens the Navy-Marine Corps team's ability to respond forward, integrate across domains, and sustain Marine Air-Ground Task Force readiness.
