Arthur Brooks, Cambridge American Cemetery associate, rubs sand from Normandy into the headstones of William Humphrey, who was killed during Exercise Tiger April 27, 1944. Members of the 423rd Air Base Group and its mission partners commemorated the 69th anniversary of the Exercise Tiger tragedy during a ceremony at Cambridge American Cemetery, in Madingley, United Kingdom, April 23. In all 749 American soldiers and sailors during one of several assault rehearsals in Exercise Tiger conducted at Slapton Sands on the Devon coast of England in preparation for the launch of Operation Overlord.
