Sgt. Lamar Porter, 16th Sustainment Brigade, greets his German host family, Tina, Alexander and Silas Schweitzer, as part of Operation Good Cheer, a volunteer program that pairs single and geo-bachelor Soldiers with German host families for the holiday season. The program kicked off Dec. 3 with a meet-and-greet American-style dinner event at a local Baumholder fire station, where 14 soldiers met with 12 host families from Rheinland-Pfalz and Saarland.
