251127-N-WY042-1002 UPINNIEMI, Finland – U.S. Navy explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technicians from Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 8 along with Finnish navy sailors and Belgium forces conduct a safety brief prior to live demolition exercises as a part of Freezing Winds 25. Commander Task Group 68.1 (EODMU 8) is part of the forward deployed Navy Expeditionary Combat Force Europe-Africa/Task Force 68, having operational capability to locate, identify, detect, render safe, recover, field evaluate and dispose of all explosive ordnance. Freezing Winds is conducted to increase interoperability between Marines, Finland, and NATO Allies by executing combined amphibious operations in and around the Baltic Sea littorals and is part of a regularly occurring series of exercises in northern Europe that demonstrates the capability to deploy and train Marines and Sailors in support of the NATO Alliance.
