U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Jay Salinas, an intelligence specialist assigned to Marine Rotational Force-Southeast Asia, I Marine Expeditionary Force, demonstrates the components of a JaiaBot autonomous underwater vehicle to Philippine Marines assigned to 3rd Marine Brigade during a subject matter expert exchange at Marine Base Camp Rodolfo, Palawan, Philippines, Oct. 10, 2025. The JaiaBot is an unmanned system that enables MRF-SEA to autonomously gather and share high-resolution environmental data in coastal and littoral zones to support reconnaissance, operational planning and mission success. MRF-SEA is a flexible task force that varies in size, capability and composition to accomplish different types of missions as a purpose-built unit, maintaining a forward presence and enhancing Marine Corps crisis and contingency response capabilities. MRF-SEA is uniquely organized to support security cooperation and advance mutual security objectives shared with Southeast Asian Allies and partners. Salinas is a native of Minnesota.
