JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (Dec. 1, 2025) Jim Neuman, Commander, Navy Region Hawaii (CNRH) historian, addresses the crew of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) using the ship’s one main circuit (1MC), Dec. 1, 2025. Neuman provided a historical narrative of Pearl Harbor as the Nimitz departed Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam after a scheduled port visit. Nimitz is currently the oldest serving aircraft carrier in the world and is slated for decommissioning in May 2026. Navy Region Hawaii is the regional coordinator for all shore-based Navy personnel and shore activities in Hawaii, and its mission is to support the readiness of the fleet and warfighters.
