U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Timka Peltonen, 488th Intelligence Squadron, poses for a photo representing the dark days of his life when he hit rock bottom and his future looked bleak, at RAF Mildenhall, England, Oct. 7, 2025. Peltonen, a recovering alcoholic, has been sober for almost seven years and finally found his zest for life after self-referring to the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment program between 2016 and 2019. With the help of good friends, leadership, ADAPT doctors and technicians, he turned his life around, gained a bachelor’s degree in cyber security, and was selected for the Air Force’s Warrant Officer Training School.
