Maj. Taylor Paige, research audiologist, stands inside the Auditory Localization Facility (ALF) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Aug. 19, 2025, wearing a hearing protection device. Researchers used the ALF, part of the Air Force Research Laboratory's 711th Human Performance Wing, to understand sound localization in real and simulated environments. This research helps develop 3D audio technology, assess hearing protection devices, test various capabilities and improve situational awareness in military contexts.
