Newly promoted Cmdr. Patrick Stewart (left), a department officer at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) in California, receives his new cover from his friend Jon Newell during a ceremony at NSWC PHD on Oct. 3. Stewart told a crowd of more than 100 supporters that he chose the location in front of the command’s Tomahawk missile monument because his first duty station as an ensign was as a strike officer aboard guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69), homeported in San Diego.
