Hikers, who refer to themselves as peak baggers, spent almost nine hours hiking and climbing Mount Mildred on the Tahoe National Forest in the Granite Chief Wilderness, California, Oct. 11, 2025. It took them 10.9 miles round-trip to bag the 8,513-foot peak, which included standing on the summit of Picayune Peak and high elevation points, Peak 8304 and 8458. Mildred was one hikers final peak on a list of 63 that she began four years ago. (USDA Forest Service photo by Paul Wade)
