Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division Commanding Officer, Capt. Chris Matassa and a Carderock employee run the final leg of the Sailor-led the "Murph Challenge" event at West Bethesda, Md. on Nov. 6, 2025. The event was held in tribute to fallen Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy, and timed to commemorate Veterans Day, which is observed annually on Nov. 11, to honor military veterans. Command leadership, including Capt. Matassa, Chief of Staff, Stephanie Feulner, and Deputy Technical Director, Dave Drazen, participated along with exercise enthusiasts from the workforce. The Murph Challenge is designed to test physical and mental toughness, and was one of Lt. Murphy's favorite workouts and is completed by thousands of people every year in his honor.
