The Freedom-variant littoral combat ship USS St. Louis (LCS 19), operating under U.S. Northern Command, joined personnel from the Mexican Navy (Secretaría de Marina) in a naval Passing Exercise (PASSEX) with the Armada República Mexicana (ARM) Tabasco (PO-168) after a port call in Progreso, Yucatán, Mexico, Oct. 10, 2025. U.S. and Mexican maritime forces commonly conduct port calls associated with coincidental maritime activities in North America to strengthen maritime security and safety by enhancing interoperability and reinforcing shared commitments under international agreements. The PASSEX underscores the U.S.–Mexico defense partnership, based on mutual respect for each other’s sovereignty and a shared dedication to safe, professional operations at sea that protect both nations and support regional prosperity.
