NAVAL STATION GREAT LAKES (October 15, 2025) — Fireman Nnabugwu Chuku, a student at Surface Warfare Engineering School Command (SWESC) Great Lakes' Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Electrical) School, displays his letter of commendation from SWESC's Commanding Officer, Cmdr. Quentin Cooper, during a luncheon honoring him as the command's 'Student of the Month,' Oct.15, aboard Naval Station Great Lakes. The SWESC Student of the Month Award is presented to one student among 13 schoolhouses based on factors including their superior grade point average, leadership skills, and presentation during a boarding process. SWESC is responsible for providing technical training to every surface Navy engineer, quartermaster, boatswain and deck seaman; preparing each Sailor to perform on U.S. Navy ships operating around the globe.
