    U.S. Army Soldiers, Sgt. Isaac Claypool and Staff Sgt. Tristan Hall, from the West Virginia National Guard, supporting Joint Task Force - District of Columbia, demonstrate a function check on the M17 pistol during weapons training to ensure the firearm operates safely and properly at Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling in Washington, D.C., Oct. 5, 2025. Service members continually train, qualify and maintain proficiency with their assigned service weapons to promote safety and security. Approximately 2,300 National Guard members are supporting the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission, providing critical assistance to the Metropolitan Police Department to help ensure the safety of residents, workers and visitors throughout the District.
