ROTA, Spain (Sept. 29, 2025) Capt. Bill Williams, Mine Countermeasures Group (MCMGRU) 6 commodore, left center, expresses appreciation for Capitaine de Corvette (Lt. Cmdr.) Cedric Valancony for his work as a Personnel Exhange Program Officer assigned to the U.S. Navy's Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center to Contre-amiral (Rear Adm.) Nicolas Pannetier during the U.S. Navy - France Bilateral Mine Countermeasures (MCM) Working Group, designed to enhance mutual MCM interests, coordination, and synergy of efforts between staffs responsible for the delivery of MCM capability, aboard Naval Station Rota. MCMGRU 6 provides U.S. 6th Fleet with command and control capabilities for all MCM operations in the U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command Areas of Responsibility, focusing on Mine Warfare readiness, strategic competition, and NATO Alliance cooperation.
