Brigadier General Jennifer Marrast Host was born in Grenada and raised in New York. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the City University of New York - Hunter College and earned her Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers University School of Medicine in 1997. A board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician, she completed her residency as Chief at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Medical Center in 2000. Currently, she serves as the Associate Chief of Staff of Education at the Atlanta Veteran Affairs Health Care System.
Commissioned as a captain in the U.S. Army in July 1997, Brig. Gen. Marrast Host has an extensive military education background, including the Army War College, Command and General Staff College, and several other advanced courses. Her recent leadership positions include Deputy Commanding General of the Army Reserve Medical Command and previous roles as Deputy Commanding General of the 807th Medical Command and Commander of the 3d Medical Command Deployment Support.
Throughout her career, she has led multiple units in various operational theaters, focusing on Force Health Protection during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her notable assignments include Chief of Staff for the 3d Medical Command Deployment Support, Commander of several medical units, and serving in combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan.
