Service members from the Guatemalan naval special force conduct a visit, board, search, and seizure during exercise UNITAS 2025 at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Sept. 24, 2025. Conceived in 1959 and running since 1960, UNITAS (Latin for “unity”) is the world’s longest continuously operating multinational maritime exercise, with forces utilizing facilities aboard MCAS Cherry Point to conduct a portion of this year’s iteration. Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point’s Navy Boat Docks can facilitate a rapid launch into the Neuse River with access to North Carolina’s Intracoastal Waterways, which support the UNITAS objective for training forces in joint maritime operations to enhance tactical proficiency and increase interoperability.
