A “helicopter lift” takes place on the site of the Louisville VA Medical Center earlier Sept. 20, 2025. During the lift, 59 pieces of equipment was placed on the roof of the medical center in just over two hours – a much shorter amount of time than what it would have taken using a construction crane.
Construction helicopter lifts are typically used to transport and precisely place heavy materials and equipment in hard-to-reach construction locations when using traditional cranes would be impractical or impossible. Common uses include installing large rooftop units like HVAC systems, lifting steel beams for tall buildings, and supporting utility construction and forestry operations.
