Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) Director, Samuel Cox, U.S. Navy Rear Adm. (retired) speaks with guests attending an art donation ceremony at the National Museum of the United States Navy, Sept. 25, 2025. During the ceremony Paolo Bembo, Italian Navy Rear Adm. (retired), donated the painting “USS George Bush meets ITS Amerigo Vespucci” by Prof. Lorenzo Mariotti to the U.S. Navy Art Collection. The painting is the most recent addition to the collection and joins over 20,000 various pieces of art work held in the collection, including sculptures, paintings, engravings, drawings, and posters.
