(Sep. 25, 2025) – RDML Craig Mattingly, Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Group, hands a Navy ballcap to a Sailor during the capping ceremony at boot camp. The capping ceremony marks recruits becoming Sailors at the end of RTC’s crucible event, Battle Stations. Training at RTC is approximately nine weeks, and all enlistees in the U.S. Navy begin their careers at the command. More than 40,000 recruits train annually at the Navy's only boot camp.
