Sgt. Makayla Gassett, with the 445th Medical Detachment (Veterinary Services), evaluates a Military Working Dog (MWD) for heat stress after a period of work in July during WAREX 25 at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. While WAREX, a two-week field exercise, focuses on sharpening basic soldiering skills in austere conditions, the 445th MDVS also trained on their mission set of safeguarding food supplies, supporting military working dogs, and ensuring animal health and assisting at the base vet treatment facility.
