Airmen assigned to the 42d Air Base Wing ruck 3.5 miles to their next event during Operation Lethal Backbone at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, Sept. 17, 2025. The Crusader Challenge is a five-day exercise that brings together Airmen from diverse units and specialties to build teamwork and mission readiness. Training events included an obstacle course, combat arms, CBRN defense, tactical combat casualty care, small-unit tactics, and close-quarters combat.
