A ceremonial vessel rests on the ground following a chief petty officer pinning ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, Sept. 16, 2025. The vessel was engraved with the name, rank and insignia of Chief Petty Officer Patrick Hill, a master-at-arms assigned to Naval Technical Training Center Lackland, and can only be opened in the presence of fellow CPOs. The hand-crafted vessel represented the transfer of knowledge, expectations and responsibilities associated with advancement to the Navy’s senior enlisted ranks. (U.S. Air Force photo by Jonathan R.
