A U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18D Hornet aircraft with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 232, currently assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, conducts flight operations at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Sept. 18, 2025. Established Sept 1, 1925, VMFA-232 is the oldest and most decorated fighter squadron in the USMC; from MCAS Miramar, California, and through the Unit Deployment Program the squadron gains additional experience in the Indo-Pacific area.
