U.S. Marines prepare gear for a beach landing site survey as part of Resolute Dragon 25 at Camp Courtney, Okinawa Japan, Sept. 11, 2025. Beach landing site surveys are a reconnaissance and engineering assessment that are conducted to evaluate the suitability of a shoreline for amphibious operations. Resolute Dragon is an annual bilateral exercise in Japan that strengthens the command, control, and multi-domain maneuver capabilities of Marines in III Marine Expeditionary Force and allied Japan Self-Defense Force personnel.
