Headed to Waterhouse. A winter traverse of 10,068-foot Red Lake Peak, 10,059-foot Stevens Peak, and 9,797-foot Waterhouse Peak from Carson Pass, off of Route 88, to Luther Pass, off Route 89, crosses two county lines and the drive passes through Eldorado, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit and Humboldt-Toiyabe national forests. The roughly 10-mile trek was completed on Feb. 27, 2022 by a Meetup group called California Peaks. Seven climbers made the route using snowshoes and scrambling rock.
