U.S. service members from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, alongside local workers, begin to layout measurements for grid units, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, July 11, 2025. During the recovery mission, DPAA personnel, augmentees and local workers spent their days digging and screening in hopes of finding missing U.S. Marines lost during the first allied offensive in the Pacific Theater of World War II.
