JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — Members of Task Force Arizona, Navy Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV), and local contractors deployed booms, or floating barriers, as part of preservation work at the USS Arizona Memorial, Sept. 3, 2025. In addition to continuous monitoring and protective measures, booms were placed out of an abundance of caution in the unlikely event that the preservation work causes pollutants to enter the water. Personnel from Navy Region Hawaii, SUPSALV, U.S. Navy’s Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 1 and local contractors will work together to remove two mooring platforms from the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor.
