250903-N-WJ234-1176 NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 3, 2025) Fire Controlman 2nd Class Elliott Metz, from Russellville, Arkansas, and Ensign Ian Ishmael, from Coloma, Michigan, both assigned to the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) fire the forward MK-15 Phalanx Close-in Weapon System during a live fire exercise onboard America while in the North Pacific Ocean, Sept. 3. America, lead ship of the America Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
