As part of Marine Corps Air Station Yuma's day-long "Intro to Devil Dogs 101" event for local elementary schools, GySgt. Matthew Bateman, the Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron explosive ordnance disposal operations chief and team leader and a native of Los Angeles, CA., demonstrated the capabilities of the remote ordnance neutralization system (RONS) to 2nd graders of Mary A. Otondo elementary school at Ramada Field, May 9. “This is a quick little demonstration of the robots and the tools we use to keep us safe. Kids love lights, kids love robots, so we brought ‘em out here to show ‘em off,” said Bateman.
