U.S. Army Col. Lillian Woodington, commander of the 89th Military Police Brigade, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), presents an award to Sgt. 1st Class James Heroux with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, also assigned to JTF-SB during an award ceremony near San Diego, Calif., on Aug. 21, 2025. Soldiers received recognition for their role in Task Force Otay’s mission in the rugged Otay Mountain Range, where they executed an air assault and maintained a 30-day presence to ensure operational success. JTF-SB executes full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to protect the territorial integrity of the United States and achieve 100% operational control of the southern border.
