Los Padres National Forest wildland firefighters engaged in live, fire training June 7th-8th. The intent of the fire school is to provide on-the-job training for firefighters and incident support personnel.
The fire school provides opportunities for Forest Service employees to come together and prepare for the fire season and also to apply prescribed fire in needed areas to reduce wildfire risk.
The training is designed to mirror a Type 3 prescribed fire or wildland fire incident, with personnel fulfilling roles in Command and General Staff, Operations, Planning, Finance, and Logistics. (USDA Forest Service photo by Andrew Avitt)
