Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Don Masuret, right, Vietnam War pilot, shares pictures of the fighter jet he flew during the war with Master Sgt. Katie Edelman, soprano vocalist with The U.S. Air Force Band, after her performance at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., Aug. 20, 2025. Masuret, radio callsign “Misty 78”, was a pilot on the F-100 “Misty” fighter jet team assigned to fly missions over North Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos from 1967 to 1970. Their mission was to identify and mark targets for airstrikes and rescue downed pilots. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Geneva Nguyen)
