U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. John Lagua, of Concord, N.C., and Master Sgt. Andrew Garrett, of Fort Mill, S.C., both assigned to the 145th Airlift Wing, North Carolina Air National Guard, work as staff in the Modular Airborne Firefighting Systems operations section during training at the Wyoming Air National Guard Base located at the Cheyenne Regional Airport, Cheyenne, Wyo., May 8, 2013. The 145th and the 153rd Airlift Wing, Wyoming Air National Guard, train together to prepare for the upcoming fire season. The units train under the direction of and with the U.S. Forest Service, which owns the MAFFS. MAFFS are loaded onto C-130 Hercules cargo planes, turning the aircraft into aerial firefighting platforms. There are four Air Force units that fly MAFFS missions.
