Air Commandos assigned to the 27th Special Operations Wing demonstrated the ability to load a M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) into an MC-130 Commando II during a training event at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 11, 2025, as part of ARCTIC EDGE 2025 (AE25). The use of HIMARS demonstrates the Marines’ ability to deliver precise, long-range fires in austere Arctic conditions. AE25 is a NORAD and U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise designed to improve readiness, demonstrate capabilities, and enhance Joint and Allied Force interoperability in the Arctic.
