Patch Elementary School Principal Dr. Vitania Quinones-Quinland speaks at the school on Aug. 22, 2025 during the Parent Teacher Associations schultüte ceremony for new kindergarteners. The ceremony stems from a German tradition in which new students are gifted schultütes (school cones) to celebrate their first day of school and prepare them for the new school year.
While traditionally given to first graders (as that is when German children typically begin their schooling), at USAG Stuttgart it is kindergarteners that are treated with colorful cones filled with crayons, pencils, and small supplies to celebrate the beginning of their educational journeys.
