U.S. Army Europe and Africa personnel, look at possible life support evidence and discuss mission operations during a visit of a recovery mission in Germany, Aug. 13, 2025. The agency is initiating a recovery mission in partnership with service members from Ramstein Air Base, the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, and other support to search for the remains of a missing World War II pilot. Multiple tools, methods and systems were utilized throughout this recovery mission to maximize time and space on site and organic personnel assigned to, and augments attached to DPAA, combined skillsets and personal experiences to recovery possible remains, Germany.
