U.S. Marines with Charlie Company, 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, conduct certification training with an Assault Amphibious Vehicle aboard the USS Somerset (LPD 25) as part of Quarterly Underway Amphibious Readiness Training 25.4 off the coast of Camp Pendleton, California, Aug. 14, 2025. The training included splashing AAVs from ship to sea and re-embarking them aboard the ship as part of the certification. QUART is a joint training exercise, involving the integration of multiple units from I Marine Expeditionary Force and U.S. 3rd Fleet, designed to develop and sustain essential amphibious readiness skills for effective operations in maritime environments while reinforcing the Navy-Marine Corps partnership.
