United Nations Command Joint Security Battalion soldiers participate in a roll call by the Bridge of No Return in the Korean Demilitarized Zone to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the "axe murder incident" in which Capt. Arthur Bonifas and 1st Lt. Mark Barrett were attacked by North Korean soldiers while leading a work party to trim a poplar tree that blocked visibility between UNC checkpoints. The names of Barrett and Bonifas were called with no response, to symbolize their loss on duty.
