U.S. Army Sgt. Michael Kane, in civilian attire, a civil affairs specialist assigned to Alpha Company, Civil Affairs Battalion, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), conducts a notional civil engagement during a training exercise with students assigned to Brigade des Forces Spéciales of the Tunisian Armed Forces (TuAF) in Bizerte, Tunisia, July 8, 2025. In this scenario, the students are meeting with a town mayor in a fictional country to assess vulnerabilities caused by violent extremist activity. This training is part of a civil affairs operations course, which will develop TuAF abilities to identify and address civil considerations impacting stability in an area of operations.
