U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Ford Small, a rifleman with Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepares to fire an M4 carbine fitted with a smart shooter optic during a live-fire training event aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 8, 2025.
