U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Steven Suetos, center, the commanding officer of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 232, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, passes the noncommissioned officer sword to Sgt. Maj. James Made, the incoming command senior enlisted leader of VMFA-232, during a relief and appointment ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, Aug. 8, 2025. The relief and appointment ceremony is a time-honored tradition which formally signifies the transfer of responsibility and authority from one individual to another. Among other achievements, the culture of excellence fostered by the outgoing command senior enlisted leader, Sgt. Maj. Abelardo Dominguez contributed to the unit exceeding all expectations and requirements, both in flight operations and on the ground, resulting in outstanding morale and commitment to the mission across all ranks.
